Some Flash memory chips can be damaged by magnets. Very strong magnet. X ray
can also corrupt Flash (Electromagnetic radiation) Still not very likely. Too
bad I did not learn this before I X-Rayed my watch.

Don't believe everything you hear. I cannot see how a magnetic field 
could affect any semiconductor or ferrite components, once it was 
removed. Yes, ferrites could become saturated with the magnet close by, 
but would revert to normal as the magnet was removed. I suppose any 
component using Hall effect may be affected (unlikely), but these don't 
grow on trees.
