I have a semi-technical, slightly off-topic question for the group.

We build boards with heat sinks and pallets attached to them. This involves
the transfer of CAD files and drawings between us, our customers and our
suppliers. I've run into a situation where we are getting PDF drawings
generated from the original customer-created CAD file. The PDFs need to
have some slight edits made to them (addition of our part number, etc.)
before we send them to the machine shop.

I thought everything was working fine until recently. I was using Acrobat
5.0.5 to make the edits to the original PDFs. Unknowingly the edits I was
making were only markups not true edits. Viewed on my computer screen or
printed out with Acrobat Reader 5, everything was OK. But I recently
upgraded to Acrobat Reader 6 and found that it doesn't print markups unless
you specifically request it as a print option. The Markups do show up on
screen, but not on paper.

So my supplier who uses Acrobat Reader 6 (or 7) doesn't see my edits when
they print it out.

I was never very happy with Acrobat to begin with (it seems to be nothing
more than electronic white-out). Now I am even less so.

Ideally, I take the PDF files back in to CAD to make the edits, the
re-convert the output into PDF? Does anybody have a good recommendation for
converting between CAD and PDF files and back again? I am using KeyCreator
(which used to be CADKey) but have the ability to output in almost all CAD
formats.

Feel free to reply off-line.

Thanks in advance.
