Hi Chad: Try Shercon 1-800-228-3218. I don't know if they still have them
but they used to have a product called a "pull plug". It was straight
walled, not tapered for the hole plug then expanded into a larger body at
the top of the plug. They were available in various materials of
construction up to 600F.

Subject: [TN] FW: Help! Silicone / Rubber plug to prevent topside
flooding at wave solder

I was wondering if you could help me. In my past I've seen silicone or
rubber plugs similar to the one sketched below that are used to plug
holes in PCBs as they are wave soldered. For example, the plug below
would fit into a 1/8 inch hole and would prevent solder from flooding
the top of the PCB. The groove at the bottom of the plug holds it in
place. The plugs are typically manually inserted and removed. Try as I
might, I haven't been able to locate any of these on the internet. All
I can find is tapered plugs. Tapered plugs usually protrude too far
through the PCB and hit the wave chimneys. Do you know of where I can
find plugs similar to the one shown - in different sizes - for example,
1/8 inch, 3/16 inch, and 1/4 inch? If you could point me in the right
direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
