Phil,

Would you also like to be the one to go to management and tell them you need
a new wave machine because the new lead free alloy will eventually corrode
your existing solder pot?

The world needs to control electronic waste so lead is not a problem. This
whole lead free initiative does not seem to have some sense of consensus so
that there is a solution we can all live with. I imagine that thinking that
we could come to a consensus on this issue globally would be utopia.

The next few years should be interesting.

Steve,

I'm 120% with you. I, too, am concerned with the "mandated" switch to
lead-free. Clearly we can't shut down the leaded operation on Friday
and start the lead-free operation on Monday. Around here I'm viewed as
the King of Pessimists, but for good reason. I don't want to be the guy
who has to tell management that the lead-free solder pot in the wave has
to be completely emptied and refilled with new lead-free solder because
someone contaminated it with 63/37.

Hi All!

I've got a problem that I've been worrying about all weekend. It may
come to
pass that we will be building both lead-free, and standard 63/37
stuff...whoa is me.

I'm interested in stories from those that have done that...what the hell
did
you do?

Is this something that can be done? It probably can, but me, being the
pessimistic sort, thinks that you're just asking for trouble when you
try to mix
the two...
