Well, one last message before the Christmas break starts. A question had
been posed recently about silicone encapsulants and reaction byproducts. I
checked with one of my contacts and this was the response:

Alcohol given off by silicone potting materials is a chemical byproduct of
the reactive silicone materials and moisture in the air. The chemistry is
similar to silicones that give of acetic acid. This reaction is called
 condensation cure.

Silicone rubber can be made by addition cure which can be relatively or
completely odorless. Most addition cure silic! ones are 2 part and a few
 are
 available with room temperature cures.

So, I hope that was of benefit to the requester. I hope that everyone has
a happy Christmas / Hanukkah.
