I've worked with Perfect Test in the past and would rate the system as a
good tool for overall inner layer registration.
System can be used as a process indicator and testing tool. The system also
is very good at collecting data to be used for scaling factors on different
materials and lay-ups.

In the beginning you will need to collect a good deal of data to get a good
picture of your overall inner layer process, core to core, panel to panel,
lot to lot and all the variables that contribute to inner layer
registration. This will add time and cost to your product as each panel
tested will have 600-700 extra holes drilled for testing and the cost for
personnel to do the testing and collect and analysis data.

As time goes by and as you gain an understanding of the performance of your
inner layer processes you will do less and less testing and the system will
be used as a process control tool.

Any other questions feel free to contact me off line.

Subject: [TN] PerfectTest registration control system

Is anyone out there familiar with the PerfectTest registration control
system? If so how would yo rate it?

As we evolve into tighter space/trace features including annular ring, vias,
bga etc etc we are looking for better controls for registration and I found
the system identified above, was wondering what other shops are using for
process control, testing or inspection of registration, other control
methods, materials, etc etc etc...

Thanks,
