Ingemar

I'm no expert on µwaves, although I have done a wee bit. However, I've
just finished a book review which may, or may not be relevant. I'm
attaching a copy, which should get to you, but not the net list.

My initial reaction to your idea is the effect on the characteristic
impedance and increased losses due to skin effect, if I understand you
correctly.

So, after tempchanges, the expected failure happens of course. Not necessary to tell what. There are many solutions when you make new design, but I have to give clever advice for what's already frozen and in production. Other solder? Z-link? Silver epoxy? etc...Omitted all but one: much longer terminal strip. If you solder a strip which in n times longer, you'll 1)get a much stronger joint, 2)no dentrimental impact on the signal(>40 GHz), 3) coax plugin/plugout longitudinal forces will not have same negative impact. When I say solder, I mean soldering all along the strip, literally bury the longer strip in solder.
