Ryan,

Distilled water is not the same as Deionized water. Distilled water is
only purified of minerals, not ions. Deionized water is a more pure form
of water because both the minerals and ions are removed.

The answer to the question of whether DI is harmful to drink or not
is....it depends. It depends on how much of this stuff is being consumed.
One glass is not likely to affect you. Now, if you are meeting your
daily requirements of 8 - 8oz glasses per day using DI, then that is
entirely a different story. I am not a physician, but I would guess that
the extent of affect on the body would be dictated by a persons overall
health condition. If someone has Diabetes, I would strongly recommend they
not tempt fate by drinking DI. Conditions of the body that relate to
sugars, electrolytes and that balance could be affected by drinking DI. DI
is a powerful solvent, back in my college and high school chemistry days,
it was known as the closest thing to a universal solvent. It can dissolve
almost anything given time and purity (18Megohm-cm). My 2 cents!
