Rick,
Can not definitively say what is best for you, but I have used the Dage 4000 for a great deal of microelectronics type of work. It comes with interchangeable transducers - up to a 100 Kg shear transducer.
There are wire pull transducers for heavy aluminum wire that easily go up to the 1Kg range [I forget what their max is]
Here is a web site - http://www.dage-group.com/test_systems/view.cfm?content_id=924E045A-B049-4B84-9FD0017565F85542
If this link fails to take you into the Dage bond testers, just truncate it to dage-group.com and work you own way into bond testers. Maybe they have something else that is better suited for you needs.
I am sure there is other equipment out there too.

Subject: [TN] Pull or Shear Test Recommendations?
We're evaluating the purchase of equipment to do pull or shear testing of surface mounted components after assembly. Can anyone recommend reasonably priced benchtop units I should consider and the range of forces I should be looking at? Component range would be passives up to larger array type packages (50mm).
Thanks in advance.
