35 micron is distance not weight - a micron is 1/MM of a millimeter?

When you say 1 oz = 35 micron do you mean micro Kilograms or
milligrams/cm-E2?

Hello Joe,

I agree with everything that has been said so far.

The IPC-4101 'Specification for Base Materials for ..."
'Table 2 Copper Foil Weight and Thickness' page 2, gives actual numbers.

IPC-6012 "Qualification and Performance Spec. ..."
'Table 3-7, and Table 3-8', page 14, gives standardized terms.

The German (Deutsche) Part Prints that I have worked with simply state
the
thickness(mm).
(i.e.. '0,035mm Cu')= 0.001,377"Cu= equiv. to 0.0014" (approx.)= 1oz.=
35
micron.

Good luck Joe.

Greetings fellow technetters!
I have a German customer who would like to convert the standard; 1 oz.,
2
oz. copper on their drawings into the metric system, specifically
microns.
Does anyone know of a conversion table or just the conversion factor one
would use. I'm thinking that say 1 oz./ sq.ft. would become some grams
per
micron, but have been told it's not that simple. Help!
