> Hello,
> New to the forum. Looks like this forum has great discussions. Maybe someone can help me here (I have also posted this to the lead free forum). I was wondering, with the change to Pb-free soldering (resulting in higher soldering temps, among other process changes) if anyone was seeing problems with their soldering fluids (e.g. blanketing fluids, hot air leveling fluids, solder reflow fluids, solder flux, hot liquid leveling fluids, etc.). We have heard that some fluids char, smoke, degrade much quicker and cannot withstand the higher temps. My knowledge is limited in the PCB soldering industry (so I apologize for any technical jargon errors); we are trying to help formulators/manufacturers improve the thermal and oxidative stability of soldering fluids to be more compatible with the Pb-free demands. Would also be good to know what peak temperatures these fluids see (240C-270C) in the Pb-free process and how long these fluids see those high temps in the process. Grateful f!
or any info!
