Joe,

I use the table from IPC6012A, Ammendment 1 (there is just recently a more
current spec, but I haven't purchased it yet; and, I don't think this
would change); it is useful because it has also starting thickness,
minimum, and nominal (reference) thicknesses..

Anyway, just for the Weight in Ounces/Foot conversion, the Thickness in
Microns should be designated as:

3/8 inches = 12 microns
1/2 17
1.0 35
2.0 70
3.0 105

do not simply use a converter to get to the metric number because you will
come up with a number which is not the "standard" in hard metric
dimensioning; use the numbers from the micron chart above as those are how
the fabricator will order the copper.

Regards,

Valerie

        Subject: [TN] copper weight

Greetings fellow technetters!
I have a German customer who would like to convert the standard; 1 oz., 2
oz. copper on their drawings into the metric system, specifically microns.
Does anyone know of a conversion table or just the conversion factor one
would use. I'm thinking that say 1 oz./ sq.ft. would become some grams per
micron, but have been told it's not that simple. Help!
