Hi Kaye,
30 is pretty well the standard but if the finished unit has to under go
multiple re-flow cycles you might want to specify a higher amount - we
specify 65 minimum. The reason we do this is we find the tin can take 2
re-flows but number three is difficult unless we re- clean the tin. The
copper starts diffusing to the surface and solderability becomes an issue.
Good luck. Steve Kelly

Subject: Re: [TN] Immersion White Tin Plating Specification

Jeffrey,

I need to change the finish to comply with lead-free.

Do you think that lead-free (SN100CL) HASL will work as well as SnPb HASL
for
press-fit connectors? It is probably too new to tell, huh?

Can you tell me what the plating specification should be for white tin?
Does 30-50uin sound correct?

Is immersion white tin really called ISn or ImSn?

Thanks again,

Kaye
