Are you looking for info on Tooling or Equipment or Both?
What is your volume and mix?

We have high mix low volume.
We use table top presses -- some manual, one pneumatic.
Depending on the connector, sometimes we purchase the tooling from the
supplier (ex: Amp/Tyco, Erni etc.) and other times we fab it in-house.
Buy or fab decisions sometimes depend on lead time and cost. We always
fab our own bottom tooling.

If you are looking for more automated presses (AEP), that's a whole
different story and will require standardizing tooling (top and bottom)
so that the equipment handle it.

Subject: [TN] Press fit tooling

Hi Technet,

I have a question about tooling for assembly of press fit connectors.
So far we have been assembling press fit parts with improvised tooling,
but since we're seeing more and more of these connectors we feel the
need to invest in more professional equipment for doing the assembly in
a more standardized and repeatable way.
I'm looking for recommendations on the type of tooling that can be used
for this. The volumes are low.

Best regards,

Daan Terstegge
