As the senior chemist at HumiSeal I've heard a couple of unusual stories.
Ants in India supposedly like to eat silicone. Contacts in the big silicone companies thought this was hilarious but one Monday morning I came into my lab and found a herd of dead ants (the lab included a lot of silicone chemicals in addition to silicone conformal coatings).
Parrots in Florida took a liking to a silicone coating used on electrical transmission equipment. The coating manufacturer added capsicum (the irritant in hot peppers) to the coating to eliminate the problem.
I know of operations where conformal coating is applied out doors in the US & other countries. All kinds of airborne debris end up in the coatings.
