Gerard,
please educate me how to specify the OSP thickness: there are different
OSPs, e.g entek is thinner than the immidizole, but perform the same
function. Some of them are self limiting, some of them are not. The
dissolution rate in the solder is depend upon the OSPs' formulation too.
Are you going to list based on formulation or brand name (some of the
formulation are not disclosed)? Many thanks for your advice.
Best regards,
jk

Subject: Re: [TN] OSP standard
Ted - currently there is no IPC standard for OSP. This finish will be the
next standard to come from the 4-14 plating committee and will be the 4555
document. As a user of OSP coating, my thickness ranges from 1500 to 3500
Angstroms for one supplier and 3000 to 5500 for another supplier.

Subject: [TN] OSP standard
Hi fellow Technettes,
Is there a standard on OSP thickness and tolerances?
If anyone is using OSP, please let me know what
thickness and tolerance are being specified.
Thanks all in advance.
