Design for Manufacture Workshop
Held onsite at Colonial Circuits Inc.
October 18-19, 2004 ? Fredericksburg, VA

Designing printed boards is more difficult today than ever before, especially in this competitive economy. Printed board designers are faced with the continuing design issues of surface mount vs. through-hole technology, what materials to use, board size and layer count, how to incorporate electrical testing, impedance control requirements, and what new specifications are being invoked in the design process and many other topics.

Attending an IPC "Design for Manufacture" course on-site at a printed circuit board facility will acquaint designers with increasingly sophisticated PCB fabrication technologies with the added bonus of being able to see the processes in action. This course will address trade-offs for designs that have both through-hole and surface mount components. The tolerance characteristics that make sense using the capabilities of today's manufacturing equipment will also be discussed. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to obtain first hand information on design issues that affect manufacturability.

Colonial Circuits has opened their doors to provide this unique learning experience. Take advantage of this opportunity to see the operations of two of the country's leading printed circuit board facilities while increasing your knowledge of many issues that affect manufacturability and ultimately cost and profitability.
