Susan,

What kind of etch are you using on your microsections?  A statement from our
lab people "The lines were almost impossible to see under magnification using
ammonia/peroxide etch but were visible when chromic acid etch was used. But we
did not see corner cracks on coupons with demarcation lines when the panels
were plated in standard vertical tanks."

Also "Sounds like the "banded" deposit could be from a horizontal plater,
maybe
using inert anodes.  These systems typically require higher brightener
content leading to poorer physical properties (cracks)."
