Steve,

I spent a number of years in Wichita, Can-sass and noticed that when it came to the Ar-can-saw River the Can-sassans pronounced it Ar-can-sass River. Sounds like a possessive thing to me.

By the way, where do all the "R's" come from in the Northeast corner of the states? Words like Africa become Africer and Anaconda becomes Anaconder.

Boo! and get out the vote!

I got to add my two cents to this one!

As most of you know, I came out here to Tulsa, Oklahoma from California about 5-years ago. One thing that's always puzzled me out here, is why Kansas is pronounced "Can-sass", but Arkansas is pronounced "Ark-can-saw"???

Happy Friday!
