Steve,

The problem is right there in the upper right hand corner of the front page of the
manual.

The dumb thing is 16 years old and out of stock and the tooling is lost, and if you
really want one you have to pay to have the pneumatic insertion tool completely
remade from the ground up, not to mention the 'dies" for your specific socket.

Are you absolutely sure that there isn't a hand tool available somewhere.

Short of that, I would say find another socket, but if you really had to have that
socket, I would try making the holes a little larger and putting them in by hand.

It should be relatively easy to just make up a little hand insertion tool, or even
modify an existing "punch down" tool or "terminal" installation die.

Look at some of the "dies" for "Sealectro" or "Useco" terminals and eyelets if those
companies are still around.

I know that there have got to be other sockets out there that can fill the void, but
I just cant think of any off the top of my head.

Off hand I would say go look at "Augat", if they are still around.

I know that some people who make IC sockets make terminals similar to what you have
there that are delivered on a "dip" type carrier, which is easily inserted and
soldered in place and then the carrier is simply unplugged.

JaMi

> Good Afternoon Techno's!

insert some AMP Miniature Spring Sockets besides what they want to sell to do it. If
you go to:

there's also some illustrations and dimensions of the little sockets.

floor! $11,000!!!

computer. I knew something bad was coming when he said; "Oh WOW!", but I didn't
think it was $11,000 worth!!!

cheaper way to install them in the board.
