Hi Larry,
Some other factors include:

-Size of board and how many can a vendor fit in a standard size panel.
-Stack-up; do other customers have similar board stack-ups to reduce the
cost to the vendor
-You mentioned material already, but does your vendor stock the material or
do they have to order it for you specifically.
-You also mentioned laser drilling, Are you hole sizes and quantities geared
toward laser drilling?
-Consider what trace/space your using and what kind of yield does the vendor
get due to very small t/s on very thick copper.

I'm sure there are other factors as well.....

Tom

Subject: [TN] DFM Cost Factors

Hi All ,

What are some ways to DFM for high copper? Our customer has asked on 2-4 oz
designs, HDI.
Without the designs to show, some have plated filled over vias, laser
drilling, and blind and buried vias ( "viers"). The material is 175 Tg, so
lead free is not coming for free as well.

Suggestions?

TIA
Larry Russell

I'm trying to understand what causes PCB to increase in prices. We have
narrowed down to few items.

1. Buried via

2. Blind via

3. 4oz copper compare to 3 oz copper

4. Laser drilling

5. Nelco material vs the Nanya Material

6. routing tolerance

7. hole size tolerance

8. thickness tolerance

Please let me know if you can tell us something about our designs that
makes it more expensive and how we can change it to make it less expensive.
