Hi Steve,

The letter is from the Quail's Inn Hotel at Lake San Marcos Resort.
Yes it was a conference room. Thanks for your kind words and thoughts.
I suppose if they had given us a key we could have locked it... but the
staff all have hotel keys to all the rooms.

It was signed by:

I have copied his letter below word for word.

-----------------------
Mr. William R. Brooks
Titan Systems Corporation
3030 Enterprise Court
Vista, CA 92083

Dear Mr. Brooks:

Thank you for leaving your business card at the hotel front desk. You and I
are both unhappy concerning the loss of your lap-top during the lunch break
in the Bridge Room. Douglas Kibbe notified me of the incident immediately
and he along with other managers investigated and searched the property with
no results.

Your loss is very unusual for the Resort due to the daily 24 hour security
patrol. Any suspicious activity is reported to security immediately. We do,
however, have the same policy as other hotels not accepting responsibility
for the personal property of our guests. The sign posted inside the Bridge
room and the disclaimer on our guest registration cards makes that very
clear.

Again, I apologize for your lose and hope this does not deter Titan Systems
and IPC from using the Resort in the future.

Sincerely,

Jerry W. Brooks
General Manager

-----------------------

So it's obvious they intend to not help out with any of the recovery or
compensate for the loss. He says that this is a common practice... although
it's the first time I have come across it. Not what I would call very
hospitable for the host... I guess I will be kicking myself for a long time
over this one... I just want to make sure it is in the minds of others so
they don't make the same mistake... it really violates you... and is very
difficult to recover from.

Best regards,

Bill Brooks - KG6VVP

Subject: Re: [DC] Warning... when attending events

I've been reading this thread with much dismay. Mary and Bill, I really
feel
badly for you. Was this a hotel conference room? (Sorry, I don't know where
this particular event was held). If it was a hotel, could you share the
name?
If you would like to do this off-line, that's okay. But I would be
interested
to know who it was. It sounds to me like that they didn't care one way or
the other that you lost your computers, to what it sounds like their own
employees. This is one establishment that I don't care to honor my business
with...ever.

Sorry for your mis-fortune...

-Steve Gregory-

PS - I think really you should let all know where this happened (my own
opinion). The way that they responded to this incident is shamefull, and
don't
deserve anymore business from our community.
