I apologize for making you come to that conclusion about my assumption. On the contrary, my understanding is that it all started in Europe and none has challenge the change. I also know that we can only talk about it, because we have bill to pay and that we just roll with the punches. Also this forum allows us to share our thoughts, which is great.
        Regards,

Ramon,
You assume that this transition to lead-free was something our industry
WANTED and so would do research upon to move that direction in a logical
manner. In this case, the cart is before the horse (some would say ass)
and the industry is being DRIVEN that way by legislation. Also keep in
mind that, despite the claims of salesmen, there is no golden material that
works well in all situations on all products.

It seems that the process is being done backwards. Lead
free has many alloy possibilities. The research should have been done
upfront. Come up with a new replacement alloy and flux then change. The
potential for boards coated with one alloy and soldered or repaired with
another will be there. Very interesting.

Mustafa,

While many may be willing to share what lead-free materials have worked
well for their manufacturing environment, it is still up to you or whoever
makes those desicions in your organization to find ones that will work for
your process. It has been stated many times that qualifying to lead-free
is the same as any other process qualification. You have to start at the
bottom and work your way up. Unfortunately for everyone, alot of research
time and work has to go into transitioning a process from one material to
another. To answer your question about which material, try talking with
Kester or Alpha Metals. Both have good reputations and their materials can
be found in numerous manufacturing operations.

As far as alternatives to lead-free, the answer is unfortunatley no. The
choice is lead or no lead. If your company plans on selling product to
Europe, then it is required that the materials used within circuit board
manufacturing not contain any lead by July of 2006.

It sounds like you have alot of work ahead. I hope all goes well. If you
need further assistance, contact us offline.

What is the recomended material, melt pot and machine manifucturer. And
also
is there any alternative method to Lead free? If there is, please give some
