Thanks Franklin,
We did an air here last week, and had very good results:
Lead - Less than 5% of the PEL (permissible exposure limit)
Xylene - Less than 1% of the PEL (permissible exposure limit)
MEK - Less than 1% of the PEL (permissible exposure limit)
Ethanol - Less than 1% of the PEL (permissible exposure limit)
We're sampling once a year at this point but are thinking of increasing the frequency to once every two years as our results have been very good for years.

I believe the way it (federal code) is written you have to sample (or
guesstimate) to verify air quality is acceptable...and make sure this is
documented somehow...

For example, you document your flux emits vapors with 0.0002 mg/L arsenic
which is a hazardous substance...the level emitted is calculated by volume
used multiplied by time...etc etc and come up with some figure such as 1
pound each quarter which is below the lethal dose, etc etc etc...

It's been years since I've had to work in that arena...but I don't think
they've changed it too much...

Have I confused you yet...

Franklin

Does anyone know if there are federal requirements to take air samples in an
assembly shop, or are the guidelines at the state level? Any comments are
appreciated.
