Bev, Bob, & Gabriela,

Thank you all for the response and the information. Normally the PCB
plating (Tin, Silver, OSP, HASL...) should be transparent to soldering
process. However, if a given batch has a problem, and you need to
explain the problem to the supplier, it will be helpful to know whether
the boards are tin plated or silver plated.

The Koslow Kit (www.koslow.com) seems to be a good start for a quick
plating evaluation. Thanks again.
