Scott the PCB Should have a fabicators stamp and Date code
See if you can determine who built and have the customer get a copy of the gebers if they (fabricator) is still in business.

The board is fairly "dense" with approx 100+ components. There are no test
points that I can find and I really do want to try and ring the thing out by
hand.
It is not their board and the original supplier is no longer in business.
One option that I thought of is to use the resources at the IEEC (Integrated
Electronic Engineering Center) at the local university. I was hoping that
they may be able to xray the internal layers or something along those lines,
but can't seem to get any response from them. Must be the grad students are
too busy with the new semester.

Just how complex is this board? How many components? If it is simple and
small and you have lots of patience, you might be able to buzz it out.
Is this their design? Are there any markings on the board that might lead
you to the PCB Fabricator?
Unfortunately, you instinct to punt may be the most prudent action.

I hate to switch gears on everyone, but I'm looking for a little input on a
job.
A customer sent me a 6 layer board (complete with all the components on both
sides) and wants to know if I can create data from it so that he can order
more. I have done several two layer boards as well as a couple simple four
layer designs, but six layers presents some problems. There is no
documentation (schematic, fab drawings, etc) and no manufacturing data.
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on how this might be
accomplished ? Of course the customer wants it immediately and for cheap,
but before I NO QUOTE this one I thought I'd get some input from the the
experts. Thanks in advance for your help..
