Yes, the film was shot in real time. I believe that it was shot with a
10 V DC source via a 10 kilohm current-limiting resistor across two
adjacent tracks spaced about 1 mm with a single drop of 18 megohm water
applied. However, I no longer have the details, so may be slightly off
on some of them. I know that Charles Jennings tried it with different
substrates and different conductor finishes and succeeded in growing
dendrites with all of them, though at very different speeds.
