I have seen variable potentials affects the surface finish with electroless
Ni/Au. At least that is what the chemistry provider was claiming was causing
isolated fingers in a group would be dull. It was always the same fingers
from board to board. The metal thicknesses were not effected (measured with
beta backscatter). We would burnish the pads to the same matte finish with
a fiber brush. This was back in the 80's and I thought the problem had been
resolved with improved chemistries.

Subject: [TN] ENIG and Electrical Test

Has anyone heard of "floating voltages" on certain nets of a C-I-C cored
power board affecting the ENIG process?
It's not Friday, it's not April but I'm wondering if anyone has had
experience of this phenomenon from a PCB fabricator before - of have we
stumbled across an answer for lead-free batteries?
TIA - Phil.
