Could cooling the connectors in a freezer and pressing them in while
cold work?

I don't think this will work. As you state, the board will expand. The
hole represents the absence of board. So the hole won't grow, but get
smaller as the board will expand into the hole. Cooling it down might
prove
more beneficial.

Getting back to the original topic, I would think the connector
manufacturer
would be able to supply a recommended lubricant. In a similar situation
previously, we used something called Berutox.

Depending on the CTEs of each, you could try heating the board. If the
board expands more than the item your press fitting, your there. If
not,
then it will not make any difference. Down side is that the hole may
now be
over stressded and crack due to the additional stresses ........... My
2
cents.

Subject: [TN] URGENT --- Lubricant for press-fit

All,

I have undersized press-fit holes on my board and they are processed
half
way. What options do I have besides hand soldering? Does anyone know
about
electronic grade lubricant?

Any help will appreciate.
