Cheryl,

I use a tool developed by Vitronics-Soltec.  It holds nine pieces of foil
in a tic-tac-toe pattern.  You weigh the foils dry, send the tool with
foils up the wave solder machine (flux and preheat on, wave off), and
re-weight the foils.  You can average the foil weight and/or normalize the
data to get ug/in2.

The tic-tac-toe pattern also show how the flux is spraying side-to-side
and front-to-back.  This can't be done by weighing a pcb or some of the
other commercially available tools.

I use the pallet monthly for SPC.  I also used the pallet to run some
DoE's to understand and optimize your settings.

I co-authored a paper on this at APEX 2001.
