I have a question on defining a lead finish on magnetics made by CM's.
On our magnetics design drawings we currently call out SN63 for a lead finish but we have a contractor that wants to us SN60. We don't have a problem using SN60 but we'll have to change all our drawings to accept it. When we change to Lead Free solder in the future we'll have to change all our drawings again.
I'm wondering if there is a better way to call out a lead finish i.e. "Lead finish shall be solderable" or something simple like that. Or maybe there is a spec I can call out.
What do others of you do for specifying lead finish on internally designed components that are manufactured by a CM?
Thanks to all,
KennyB
