I would be very concern about how to get rid of solder balls, specially if they are small. My method to remove them with be with a solder iron or solder iron, solder wick combination. Blowing them off may impel them in between solder balls under a BGA or between leads and cause shorts. That would be very bad.
        Just a thought

Subject: [TN] My solderball saga...

Hi All!

Well, I'm off of vacation now, trying to get back into the swing of things
here at work,
and Cheryl's email reminded me about my recent solderball deal. BTW Cheryl,
there's not much I can help you with as I didn't find a good way either to
remove the solderballs we had on our boards, other than mechanically brushing them
away.

But back to my deal...and this is weird. You remember my problem right? The
little tiny solderballs that we were seeing after wave solder just around some
Aries SMT-to-PTH adapters installed on the board. I tried everything under the
sun to try and eliminate them, but nothing worked. So I just gave up and we
had to spend time to brush them away by hand.

I came back from vaction hoping that someone found a solution, and fixed the
problem. So I asked our wave solder supervisor how that assembly was waving,
and did the solderball problem get fixed? He then told me; "They just went
away..." I asked; "So what did you change to get rid of them?" He said; "Nothing
was changed, they just went away..." I said; "You've got to be kidding!" He
said; "Nope, they just went away..."

So the moral of the story is; if you run into a problem that you can't solve,
take two weeks vacation and don't let anybody do anything to try and fix
things, then when you get back the problem will fixed!! It worked for me!!
