Hi,

Sometimes the customer sincerely believes that they are giving you good
data and sometimes it's a matter of the CAD operator pushing the problem
down to the CAM operator.

With embedded passives, a recurrent problem is that the original CAD
data is right for additive thick film processes (such as screened-on
polymers) but wrong for subtractive thin film processes (such as print
and etched planar resistors). The CAM operator has to do a lot of
editing and manual DRC before they can plot any useful phototools. This
delays the order and irritates management but what's sauce for the goose
is not necessarily sauce for the gander. "Everyone has to go through the
learning curve at least once."
