I must confess that my knowledge of the French language is limited to "au resevoir" 
and "bone du jour"; but I have this sneaking suspicion that the amusing little 
aphorism "avoir du plomb dans la tête" is more likely a consequence of the density of 
lead  and the weight of lead objects than the impact of lead on human health, which 
was probably only discovered many years after the phrase was coined.
