I'd like to add my own recommendation for an award to UP Media. They
have done innumerable good things for the industry in general, and
continue to do so even as the economy and especially our part of it has
gone through a very deep and depressing slump.

As we all know, Pete Waddell owns UP Media and it's not generally known
that he was a huge benefit to the Designers Council, especially in the
early days. He gave the Designers Council plenty of free editorial
space, gave it booths for free or next to free at his highly successful
shows PCB West and then East. To my knowledge he has never been
officially recognised for his involvement.

I think we should officially thank him for his contribution, and for the
contributions made by his hard working staff over the years.

Subject: [DC] Recognition for the Deserving

Recognition for the Deserving
IPC and the industry owe so much to the many volunteers who contribute
to IPC activities and standards development. This year's IPCWorks and
October Management Meetings will offer a timely opportunity to recognize
those who have gone above and beyond.

You can acknowledge the excellence and commitment of deserving
individuals by nominating them for IPC President's, IPC Distinguished
Committee Service and IPC Special Recognition awards.

Recipients will be honored at IPCWorks 2004, taking place October 24-27
in Minneapolis, Minn., and at the Management Programs in October in
Arizona.

The President's Award is given to members who have exhibited ongoing
leadership in IPC and have made significant contributions to the
association and the electronic interconnect industry. Individuals can
receive this award only once.

The Distinguished Committee Service Award is presented to an IPC
committee members who has made an exceptional contribution to a specific
standard or other IPC program. Any person who is actively involved on an
IPC committee is eligible, except members of the board of directors.
This award can be presented to an individual more than once.

The Special Recognition Award is given to members who have made
exceptional contributions to an IPC program or to the industry. The
activity can be a short-term or a one-time event. This award can also be
received more than once.

Nominations must include the name and company of the candidate and a
statement describing how the nominee meets award criteria, what the
contribution was or why the member deserves recognition. All nominations
are confidential. Self-nominations are welcome.

Submit nominations to Susan Storck ([log in to unmask]) membership and
marketing coordinator, by August 13, 2004. For additional information,
please contact Storck at 847-790-5372.
