Greetings,

IPC-A-610 section 2.3.2

If the standoff is strictly mechanical, and you are using "PEM KF2" series
hardware, I do not believe they require soldering (especially the stainless
steel series, which is not solderable)

However, if your design requires that the standoff serves as a ground bond
to a chassis, I believe it should be soldered in which case there are
"electro-tin" plated versions of this series.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [DC] Swage standoffs on board

Hello All, When installing swaged standoffs in board's, after they are
install should they be soldered? If so where could I find IPC spec's on it.
I would think maybe they should be, incase they become lose for any reason
and the swaged edge cutting into the 1st layer, then the second layer and
..... What do you think?

Thank's, Fred Dark Jr.
