I have found the following phrase to work well

"We would be happy to accommodate your request for this unique
manufacturing approach. We do, however, charge a premium price for doing
things wrong".

Dave,
I agree with George. I had a manager once tell me to never say no to a
customer. I have learned over the years to say yes to a customer in such a
way that he knows the answer is no.

Subject: [TN] Customer Asking Not To Use Immersion Silver

Dave,

The advice you got from TechNeter about immersion silver is correct.
However, in all my years working in the telecommunications industry I've
learned three thinks about customers:

1. Listen to your customer. While your listening to them try to educate
them.

2. Listen to your customer. When they don't hear what you are saying,
talk a little louder.

3. Listen to your customer. And if they refuse to listen even when they
are wrong, do what they ask or they won't be your customer anymore.

Subject: Re: [TN] Yellow Discoloration of Immersion Silver Boards

Dave,
Call me or Don Cullen if you need to but,

THERE IS NO REASON FOR CONCERN ABOUT MIGRATION WITH IMMERSION SILVER!!!

I took over 2 years in my investigation and qualification of IAg and
never once was able to document any migration.
Silver plate options can have grounds for concern, but not Immersion.
Unfortunately everyone knows someone who had a problem with Silver (but
no one has ever told me they personally have seen IAg migrate).

Talk to your PCB Supplier to get data from the correct IAg Supplier and
use that to teach your customer that the "old wives tale" is just that
and has no grounds for belief.

Hope it helps,
FNK

I now have a customer asking us not to use Immersion Silver due to
migration. Isn't this old news? I thought the benzomidazole and other
organic inhibitors prevented Silver migration.
