We used to "outlaw" dead bugs in production except in extreme circumstances
because of the additional human handling involved. In production that risks
part damage due to ESD and excessive solder heat, board damage/shorts due to
poor workmanship (I guess that's the rationale for the high level of
certification mentioned in an earlier post), as well as time...which costs
money.
