The performance depends on a lot of things- what are you trying to clean, your wash configuration, line throughput, parts being cleaned (stand off height) and whether your running baskets or not.

We have been cleaning Indium SMQ92J paste (this is the most challenging paste we are running). We have been using the A4512P for over a year and are using an Electrovert H400. We have to run higher concentrations (18-20% at 2 FPM, 135 F wash and rinse). It foams much less than A4512 and doesn 't attack the solder finish (we have issues with some pad insulators cracking and fraying after seeing multiple wash cycles) unlike some other saponifiers. Bath life is good but consumption is a concern - a function of our wash and what we are trying to clean off.

We are very interested in the Aquanox A4520- preliminary tests show that we can reduce the wash concentration and also increase belt speed without sacrificing cleanability.

No experience with the Armakleen E 2003. But would look into effect of high concentrations on solder , part and pump compatability, scale build up and bath life.

Fellow Technets,

We are evaluating a couple of different saponifiers to remove RMA flux
residue using a WESTEK in-line cleaner. The 2 saponifiers are as follows:
        - Kyzen, Aquanox A4512P
        - AlphaMetals, Armakleen E-2003

Both appear to be capable based on manufacturer's literature. Would anyone
like to share their experience with either of these products and state which
type of flux type are cleaning? It is always very helpful to hear from
actual users. thanks

joe
