Marie;

We have a Prep Dept. that cuts, crimps, spans and just about everything
else that is needed before a component is manually placed in a PWB.
We also have auto insertion. We have some components that have to be cut
after the completions process. The soldered joints are evaluated for
fractures and reflowed if necessary. Sometimes components are too bulky
or cumbersome for the wave or SMT soldering, this process comes into play
with guidelines.

By the way like the attachment quotation by Roosevelt.

        Subject: [TN] Through hole components question

Just Wondering..  Through Hole Assembly
Do Most Contract Manufacturers have "Component Prep Departments" that
receive all their comps and the detape them, form them(bend), hand prep
with crimps, and Cut the leads short for loose hand assembly. Does
anyone out there cut the leads after soldering. I know that IPC says this
is not a good practice,,, but ...

Thanks in advance for feedback
