Simple: skimp on the cleaning process = catastrophe
Qualify your process with good overall contamination and SIR/ECMR
control and monitor the production process with ionic contamination
control every hour.
Compare the residual contamination, using your qualified flux and
soldering process, with cleaning in, say, at least 6 different machines
after a constant interval - choose the one that leaves the least overall
and under-component contamination. Be present at all these tests to make
sure that the machine manufacturer doesn't cheat by cleaning the board
several times or adjust the settings to impractical throughputs (of
course, not that any of them would!!! Much!!!)
