Hi Dacia!
I've got a PowerPoint Presentation called; "Electronic Waste Management in
Vermont" that I'll send to you. It's got a section that lists expected product
lifetime as a means to determine when they will expect to see in showing-up in
dumps and landfills after the consumer purchases it.
These figures were obtained from the EPA's report; "Municipal Solid Waste in
the United States: 2000 Facts and Figures. US EPA Office of Solid Waste and
Emergency Response. June 2002, Pages 150-160. It lists product life in years for
each type of product.
They can range anywhere from 13-15 years for a color TV, to 2-4 years for a
wireless phone. Seeing how your company makes memory, the report lists Personal
Computers of having a 3-6 year life.
