Hi TechNet! Before I get to thumped over my much too short response to
Dieter's reference information, I had better redeem myself (sorry, so many
'gators in the swamp this week I am doing a poor job multi-tasking!). I
should have listed the newer references that update the reference
information that Dieter had mentioned. One reference is the IPC-TR-465-1,
2, 3 report series which was a more indepth investigation on relationship
of conditioning and surface aging. A second reference is Denny Fritz's
Alternative Finishes committee draft report on Conditioning of PWB Surface
Finishes which investigates the potential of using a single conditioning
recipe for pwb surface finishes (immersion Ag, immersion Sn, ENIG, Sn/Pb,
OSP) - very good report on the interactions of time, temperature and
humidity. Request a copy of the draft report from Jack Crawford IPC. Third,
the 1992 IPC-TP-1060 technical report on PWB Conditioning which
investigates the relationship of steam conditioning and oxide species
growth.
