This may not be directly applicable but may spur some thinking.  We use a
power supply with interchangeable plugs, making it universal.  Check out

Has anyone heard about Universal Adapter Kits for power cords? This
Universal Adapter kits convert the US power cords into any plug type and can
be used worldwide.



What we are thinking here is by using Universal Adapter kits; we can
eliminate the needs to have all different power cords part numbers.
