Just comment again on a similar tac I would like to hear from suppliers
on what they are doing on barrier plating on brass terminals. People I
have spoken too seen to missing this and the problems associated with
soldering to brass. Copper is often used as a barrier layer and nickel.
If copper is being used how much more is being plated to overcome the
copper dissolution and then the complete non wetting.

Some time back a well known contributor to this forum made the point
that they had failures.

Subject: [LF] FW: Re: Using Brass for interconnections

Our product has an electronic controller, in some instances we use brass
nuts and washers for terminating from our loom to various electrical
circuits such as elements.

The (RoHS) directive States "Lead as an alloying element in steel
containing up to 0,35 % lead by

weight, aluminium containing up to 0,4 % lead by weight and as a copper
alloy containing up to 4 % lead by weight"

Brass is not covered in the directive!

Brass usually contains lead for machining.

Does this mean we are unable to use brass as an electrical conductor?
