Hi IPC LF Listservers,

First let me say that I greatly enjoy your conversations and they continue
to be an education for me on a daily basis. My function and question here
has to do with how OEM's will manage the inventory of electronic components
as it switches from leaded to unleaded or RoHS Compliant. So here are my
questions for you all:

If manufacturing part numbers/ ordering codes do not change (for new
revisions of RoHS compliant components) from your suppliers how are you
ensuring that inventory isn't mixed?
Do OEM's on this listserver prefer that part numbers change for
identification purposes?
Can you really manage the inventory by date code, lot code, or some other
identifier? What would that identifier be?

Thanks in advance for your responses.
