I find this posting inappropriate for this listserv. The Lead-free
listserv is for exchange of technical information as the industry
transitions to lead free electronics. It is NOT for political
statements.

The criticism of NIST is completely inappropriate. NIST has worked hand
in hand with industry (not by themselves) and have helped us focus our
efforts when we may have otherwise gone off track. NIST has supported
IPC conferences globally and locally and have always been there for us.

I suggest that DDave while he may be trying to be humorous, should keep
on the subject of exchange of technical information.

Subject: Re: [LF] Reliability information on SAC

Hi M and IPC LF Listservers,

---------
I am not responding in my usual way since this note, at this point, does
not
appear on the IPC LF Listserve's web site at www.ipc.org which is where
I
usually form and communicate any of my replies. I know the IPC web site
has
certain difficulties that I have already communicated to the IPC.
----------

Where the heck is Kettering.edu??
Maine of LLBeam fame??

You are right usually NIST is helpful, yet maybe under this Bombing
Bullying-first Bully Bush with Boy Blair administration they may have
changed tactics
due to top
down directions and formed new commercial policies for the agencies.

It is ODD that we have to wait for a commercial book, considering this
is
NIST and a government that we the citizens are funding. This situation
is very
unusual, which doesn't mean NIST's employees won't and should not
produce
books, it just means that the information should also be available in a
form
available to the funding citizen of this or any free citizen funded
government.

Today I communicated with NIH and NEI (National Institute of Health),
(National Eye Institute) in neither case was I referred to a commercial
book for any
of my queries.

Yours in Engineering, David
