Hi Phill:
Do a search on the technet for dendrite posts. This topic has been discussed recently. If you do not want to spend on an ionograph, call this fellow. Umut Tosun [[log in to unmask]]. The company he works for has a product that turns the flux blue when it get in contact with it.
Here is a site to read.more about dendrites. http://www.divsys.com/ServicesProducts/PCB/Cleanliness/Cleanliness.asp.
Regards and good luck.
