Top-Notch Program for Inaugural European IPC Designers Learning
Symposium

NORTHBROOK, Ill., April 22, 2004--The IPC Designers Council has
announced the agenda for its First Annual European Designers Learning
Symposium, which takes place May 10-14, 2004, in South Mimms, Potters
Bar, United Kingdom. Supported by the IPC United Kingdom (UK) Designers
Council Chapter, Premier EDA Solutions and the Fachverband
Elektronik-Design (FED-Berlin), this will be the first Designers
Learning Symposium for printed circuit board (PCB) designers in the
European marketplace.

Throughout the week, the European event will offer an abundant
amount of papers and presentations on the industry's hottest topics,
such as lead free technology, embedded passives, high speed design and
thermal management. Highlights of the conference include:

        * Design Considerations for Thin-Film Embedded Resistor
and Capacitor Technologies-Tony Ridler, Rohm & Haas

        * BGA Implementation Technology-Dieter Bergman, IPC

        * Introduction to Lead Free PCB Soldering Technologies
for Designers-Happy Holden, Westwood Associates

        * Thermal Management at the PCB Level-Dr. Jeff Punch,
Stokes Research Institute, University of Limerick

        * Beyond Lead Free-WEEE/ROHS-Kay Nimmo, Tin Technology
Ltd. and ITRI Ltd.

On May 10, The European Designers Learning Symposium will also
hold an interactive, half-day Off-Site Applied Training segment at
Coretec Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Coretec, Inc. Through
multiple lectures, a panel discussion and a facility tour, PCB designers
will gain a better understanding of the design philosophy for
manufacturability by directly observing the processes, smelling the
chemistries and touching the end product.

Additionally, designers who aspire to become Certified
Interconnect Designers (CID) and Advanced Certified Interconnect
Designers (CID+) will also be able to participate in the IPC Designer's
Council Designer Certification programs on May 12-14. Developed to
assess one's knowledge of how to transform a schematic into a reliable
rigid PCB design that can be easily manufactured, assembled and tested,
these certification classes are based on several critical IPC documents
that link design principles to the end product use of the printed wiring
assembly.
