I'm curious Craig,

In your country, as you are not an American Citizen... do you see foreigners
voting in your 'elections' there? Would that sort of arrangement work where
you are from?

What if foreigners out numbered your citizens? Could they not in effect
overturn the will of the citizens? Of what value is citizenship if not to
obtain the right to vote? What incentive would you have for applying for
such citizenship if not to obtain the right to vote?

This concept of allowing foreigners to vote is strange. And it really
belongs on another forum... other than the designers council forum. I would
request that further discussion of this topic be removed to an offline area
or personal e-mail rather than continue this thread on this forum, Don't
you?

Allow me to add the perspective of the other side.
As a LEGAL resident alien, I am not allowed to vote but I am most certainly
taxed on my income.
I think the phrase "taxation without representation" comes to mind.
Perhaps some compromises may work:
- allow legal immigrants to participate as election workers at the polls
(currently this is also a restriction
and we all know after the 2000 "election" that things didn't go quite
right)
- allow legal immigrants to vote at the local level(s) only

More food for thought; thank all for your time.
